On your very special day you do not want to look back at your make-up, gasp, and exclaim, “What was I thinking!?” While make-up is so very important to wear on your weeding day due to all of the pictures and even video that you will be in, you do not want to over do it at all. Trendy make-up is not recommended for weddings. You want to look like yourself while still giving the impression that you always have this glowing and flawless skin and appearance. The trick is, pulling it all off. Because brides know that they will be in pictures it seems that they begin caking on camouflages, concealers, and powders, and all that actually does is make the bride look older and not nearly as put together, if you will. So, for your big day, you need to follow these tips and tricks for make-up application to get the very best results from your pictures.
Create an even skin tone without overdoing it. Why is it that women think a matte powdery finish is natural looking or attractive? This is something that, as a make up artist, has always frustrated me. You do not see five year old little girls running around with muted matte colored skin, do you? No, their skin looks dewy and supple. Get the coverage you want without aging yourself ten to fifteen year by properly applying your base and concealers and powders.
- After you have performed your skincare routine, apply a very light layer of a primer to your face, then using a foundation brush, apply your correct shade foundation–this will be a perfect match to your neck and chest, as well as, your face. When applying the foundation, start in the middle of the face and blend outward. It seems that women tend to need more coverage for redness in the middle of the face.
- After you have applied your foundation, you will notice if there are any other places that need additional coverage. For those places you will apply the concealer as a spot treatment. Do not apply the concealer to thick, as it will look very unnatural. TIP: to look wider awake, use a yellow toned concealer in the corners, both inner and outer, of the eye and blend well. You instantly look like you have had your eight hours of sleep.
- So, now you have your primer, foundation, and concealer done, it is time to apply powder. When I say powder, I am talking to women who have oily skin. If you find that your skin tends to stay fairly dry, then you can even skip the powder. For those who need to avoid the big forehead shine in photos however, follow this rule: use a loose powder. Take the loose powder and very lightly apply it on areas that you know will get shiny, no where else. Typically cheeks do not shine, so don’t apply powder on them.
